Flat Sandals - What’s Their Advantage?

Being footwear specialist that has worn heels for nearly all of her days, the thought of switching to level sandals can appear about as comfortable as scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in this year’s 6″ stilettos. While there are a number of truly gorgeous flats around this year - among them the scruffy gladiator sandal - the reality is that for most girls wearing flat shoes for even just a couple of minutes is sufficient to dispatch sharp pains shooting up their legs. Whereas it is tempting to see this as reason enough to turn clear of sandals, in reality this searing ache is your greatest cause to get those legs in a pair of flats quick smart.

The problem with sandals is that they warp your entire body into an unusual shape by thrusting your pelvis ahead and crippling your lower back. As you move in this odd posture your boobs and bottom are enforced to protrude at all sorts of angles that can feel all very sexy until you begin to feel the long-term consequences of these orthopaedic nightmares, that can include chronic lower back pain and intervertebral disc injury. Even though you could get used to walking in high heels - so much so that everything else feels strange - the reality is that if you find it difficult to walk without being twisted this way, then odds are you’re at jeopardy of severe damage down the track.

Now take a look at your beloved Stacie Bass sandals, ballet flats or even your sneakers and you’ll detect that the shape of the shoe’s toe region comes to a point. Now take a look at your feet. See the difference? When given abundant breathing space our toes naturally sit in an arc shape so that our feet are a great deal wider at the toes than at the heel. Regardless of this, most fashion high heels get narrower at the toes and crunch them simultaneously, which can lead to crooked big toes and painful (not to talk about unpleasant) bunions. The force on those pitiable little toes is made all the worse when they are lodged into high heels which transfer the mass of the entire body from the strong heel bone to the delicate bones at the front of the feet. Now you are aware there is a good reason to have flat sandals whenever you can.
